Solo Jazz Foundations on Thursday

You have little or no experience in Authentic Jazz. If you are a Lindy Hopper, dancing means being physically connected with your partner and executing moves and you feel lost every time you are abandoned on your own. You might have seen someone dancing solo at a party and you think that’s cool(er), maybe you have seen some routine performed by a group and you liked the steps. We will work on acquiring the vocabulary of the dance and on the basic rhythmic elements. We will practice transitions between steps and find ways to combine steps into a phrase and to connect them to the music. By the end of the block you will be able to dance alone to a full jazz song and actually enjoy it. You will know some of the classic step combinations and some of the classic routines. You will have realized that grabbing a friend or two and sharing some steps is a great way to spend some time at a social (or anywhere else, for what matters).
